Can Inspect Element Show Google Forms Answers? The Truth
Videos claim Inspect Element reveals Google Forms quiz answers. Here is why it does not work on properly set-up quizzes, the risks of trying, and what to do instead.
"Google Forms answers inspect element" has been a popular search for years, with videos promising a hidden answer key in the page code. Here is what actually happens, and why it is a waste of your time.
What Inspect Element does
Inspect Element shows the code your browser received from a website, and lets you edit it locally. Any change you make only affects your own screen. It does not change what is sent to Google when you submit.
How Google Forms grades a quiz
When a teacher sets up a quiz, they enter the answer key in the editor. When you submit, your answers are sent to Google, which compares them with the key and calculates your score. You see results only if and when the teacher releases them.
Because grading happens on Google's side after submission, the form you fill in is not designed to show you the correct answers while you are answering.
Why the videos look convincing
Most "it works" videos fall into one of these categories:
- Outdated tricks from years ago that no longer apply.
- Forms that are not quizzes, where there was never an answer key.
- Edited screens, where someone changed the page to look correct for the video.
- The teacher's view of a form, which obviously contains the answers.
The real risks
- Wasted time during a timed or monitored quiz.
- Broken submissions if you edit parts of the form by mistake.
- Academic misconduct: trying to extract answers during a graded quiz counts as attempted cheating at most schools.
Better ways to get answers
If what you want is to understand the material and check yourself, there are legitimate ways:
- View score after submitting, if your teacher released results. See how to see your score on Google Forms.
- Ask your teacher about specific questions.
- Practice forms with AI: on practice quizzes, TrustStudy shows the answer in the corner when you highlight a question and press Alt + X.
Our guide to finding Google Forms answers the right way covers all of these.
The takeaway
Inspect Element is a great tool for learning web development, not for getting quiz answers. The time you would spend hunting through code is better spent on a few practice questions. See how to study with Google Forms practice quizzes.

Can you find Google Forms answers in the page source?
For a quiz set up with an answer key, the correct answers are graded by Google after you submit and are not revealed to you while you answer. Searching the page source does not give you a reliable answer key.
Why do some videos show it working?
Many are old, use forms that were not real quizzes, show the teacher's view, or simply edit the page to look correct. Editing the page in your browser does not change your score.
Will my teacher know if I use Inspect Element?
Google Forms does not report it, but trying to extract answers during a graded quiz is still an attempt to cheat under most school rules, and it is not worth the risk.
