How to Review Your Canvas Quiz Mistakes (and Stop Repeating Them)
Your Canvas quiz results are a personalised study guide. Here is how to read them, understand each mistake with AI and turn them into better scores.
Most students check their Canvas quiz score and move on. The students who improve fastest do one more thing: they study their mistakes. Here is a simple method.
Step 1: Open your results
Open the quiz from the course or from Grades and view your submission. Depending on your teacher's settings, you will see your answers, which were wrong, the correct answers and feedback. If correct answers are hidden, they may be released later. See how to see Canvas quiz answers.
Step 2: Sort your mistakes
For each wrong answer, decide which category it belongs to:
- Did not know: the concept is missing.
- Confused: you mixed up two similar ideas.
- Misread: you knew it but misread the question.
- Careless: calculation slip or wrong click.
- Time: rushed because of the clock.
Each category has a different fix.
Step 3: Fix each category
- Did not know: study the topic and practise with new questions.
- Confused: write a side-by-side comparison of the two ideas.
- Misread: practise underlining key words like NOT and EXCEPT.
- Careless: build a habit of checking answers in the final minutes.
- Time: practise timed sets. See Canvas quiz time management.
Step 4: Use AI to explain and retest
For every "did not know" or "confused" mistake, ask an AI:
- Why is the correct answer right?
- What misconception leads to my answer?
- Give me two new questions on this idea.
Answer the new questions a few days later. If you get them right, the gap is closed.
Step 5: Keep a mistakes list
Keep one list per course. Before every quiz and exam, read it. It is a study guide made exactly for you.
Step 6: Practise with practice quizzes
Redo practice quizzes after reviewing. Check each answer after committing to yours; TrustStudy can show answers on the page, using Screenshot mode on New Quizzes.

What if Canvas only shows my score?
Your teacher may have hidden responses or correct answers until later. Check again after the quiz closes, or ask your teacher about specific questions.
How can AI help me review quiz mistakes?
Give an AI the question, your answer and the correct answer, and ask it to explain the difference and generate new questions on the same idea.
