How to Review Your Moodle Quiz Mistakes with AI
The review page after a Moodle quiz is the best study tool you have. Here is how to read it, understand each mistake with AI and stop repeating errors.
Most students look at their Moodle quiz score, feel good or bad about it, and move on. That wastes the most valuable part of the quiz. The review page shows you exactly what you do not know yet, and with AI you can fix each gap in a few minutes.
How to open your Moodle quiz review
- Go to the quiz in your course.
- In the "Summary of your previous attempts" table, click Review next to the attempt you want.
- Scroll through the questions. Moodle marks each one as correct, partially correct or incorrect.
If the Review link is missing, your teacher has not released reviews yet, or has turned them off for this quiz.
Understand Moodle's review options
Teachers control what appears on the review page, and they can choose different settings for different moments: during the attempt, immediately after, later while the quiz is still open, and after the quiz closes. For each moment, they can show or hide:
- The attempt (your answers)
- Whether correct
- Marks
- Specific feedback (feedback for the answer you chose)
- General feedback (an explanation shown to everyone)
- Right answer
- Overall feedback (a message based on your total grade)
So if you see your score but not the right answers, check again after the quiz closes. Many teachers release correct answers once everyone has finished.
Build a mistakes list
Create a simple document or note with three columns: the question topic, what you answered, and why it was wrong. Sorting your mistakes this way reveals patterns. Maybe you keep confusing two terms, misreading "NOT" questions, or rushing calculations.
Use AI to explain each mistake
For every wrong answer, give an AI the question, your answer and the correct answer, then ask:
- Why is the correct answer right?
- What misconception would lead someone to my answer?
- Give me two new questions that test the same idea.
The last request is the important one. Answering new questions on the same concept proves you actually fixed the misunderstanding rather than memorising one answer.
If you would rather stay on the Moodle page, an extension like TrustStudy can read a highlighted question directly, which is handy when you redo a practice quiz.
Redo the quiz if you are allowed
If your quiz allows several attempts, wait a day, then take it again without looking at your notes. A day's gap forces real recall instead of short-term memory. Check your teacher's grading method first, because Moodle can keep your highest grade, your average, your first or your last attempt. Our guide to Moodle quiz attempts and grading covers each method.
Keep it honest
Turn reviews into exam preparation
At the end of a term, your mistakes list from every Moodle quiz becomes the best revision guide you could have. It is personal, it targets your weak spots and it is already sorted by topic. Combine it with the techniques in effective study strategies for Moodle quizzes and you will walk into the final exam knowing exactly what you fixed.

How do I review a Moodle quiz after submitting?
Open the quiz in your course and click Review next to your attempt in the summary table. What you can see (marks, correct answers, feedback) depends on the review options your teacher set.
Why can't I see the correct answers on my Moodle quiz?
Teachers choose when correct answers are shown: immediately, later while the quiz is open, after it closes, or never. If you cannot see them, they are probably released after the quiz closes.
Can AI explain why my Moodle answer was wrong?
Yes. Paste the question, your answer and the correct answer into an AI and ask it to explain the difference. It is one of the best ways to fix a misunderstanding.
