How to Create Your Own Practice Quiz in Google Forms (with AI)
Build your own self-grading practice quiz in Google Forms in 15 minutes, using AI to write the questions. A powerful way to study for any test.
Teachers are not the only ones who can make quizzes. Building your own practice quiz in Google Forms takes about 15 minutes with AI's help, and it turns your notes into a self-grading test you can take as many times as you like.
Why make your own quiz
Testing yourself is one of the most effective ways to study. A self-made quiz lets you:
- Practise exactly the topics you find hard.
- Retake it as often as you want.
- Share it with a study group.
- See your score instantly.
Step 1: Generate questions with AI
Paste a section of your notes into an AI chat and ask:
"Write 10 multiple-choice questions on this material, each with 4 options, one correct answer marked, and a one-sentence explanation."
Read every question and fix anything wrong or unclear. AI makes mistakes, and you will learn a lot just by checking.
Step 2: Create the form
- Go to Google Forms and create a blank form.
- Give it a title, like "Biology Ch.4 practice".
- Add a multiple choice question for each AI question.
Step 3: Turn on quiz mode
Open Settings and enable Make this a quiz. Set Release grades to Immediately after each submission, and allow respondents to see missed questions, correct answers and point values.
Step 4: Add the answer key
For each question, click Answer key, select the correct option and set the points. Add the AI's explanation as feedback for incorrect answers. That way, every mistake comes with an explanation.
Step 5: Allow retakes
To retake the quiz, make sure Limit to 1 response is off. You can also enable shuffling of question and option order in settings, so you cannot rely on memorising positions.
Step 6: Take it like a real quiz
Open the preview, close your notes, set a timer and answer every question. Submit, view your score and review the feedback. Come back two or three days later and retake it.
Bonus: use it with your study group
Share the form with classmates. Each person creates a quiz on a different chapter and you swap. Writing questions for others is excellent practice too.
Checking teacher practice quizzes
For practice quizzes your teacher shares, you can check your answers on the page with TrustStudy: highlight or double-click a question and the answer appears in the corner. Answer first, then check.
